the dealer is gone

Photo of a car, the dealer's car. Right in front of my house. Tonight I was just taking Rou or Ru, the puppy home from a big walk, talking to a friend on the stoop, when it got unreal. The dealer had been there selling crack for a few hours. Suddenly, it was televison. Cops. Someone shouted, hands up, on the ground, and they all had guns. The dealer got out of his car, and was taken away. Then the two incredibly stupid couriers showed up and were arrested. The past few months have been incredibly hard. You never knew when you were going to walk around a corner and there would be major dealing, or a crazed person to deal with. We really lived in fear, so tonight the entire neighbourhood is out, on the street, talking and celebrating. I am no big fan of cops, but this time, they were brilliant. I can walk around now, and the cloud is gone.

I'm sorry you've been dealing with this. I've dealt with it in the past, and am so happy it's not a factor anymore. Good for you, good for Roo, good for everyone.

good morning all. and it is such a better morning than they used to be.

I am still a little shaken--it was a spectacular takedown, about ten undercover agents, handcuffs and then more arrests as the minidealers kept coming in. without a marked police car, they just kept arriving, completely blind to the fact that there were all these cars parked at weird angles in the middle of the street. The police said that the addicts would be sent to rehab, not jail, if they accepted that. And the dealer is not going to be allowed back in this area. More than anything, I think we all are surprised and reassured that we were listened to, that the cops sent their best guys. No more crack addicts to scare me when I walk Ru. amen.

How awful to have that going on near where you live. I'm glad that it all ended well, though.

Congrats on keeping a cool head and getting through what was obviously a terrible time in the neighbourhood. Here's hoping this is the end, permanently, of these idiots.

gooday mate. it's a whole different place now. hard to trust that the cops would come through. it seemed to take ages, but they did. it is the end, this guy is gone, for a long time. not allowed anywhere near here as part of his bail conditions.

how's winter? it is hot here.

Swamprose, swamprose! Your comment just turned up in my inbox - haven't looked at my moblog, or yours, for too, too long.
I am going to sit down and write you an email tomorrow. It was utterly wonderful to meet you and not being in touch (a speciality of mine) makes me sad.

I'm so glad for you that the hellish cloud is gone.
