A group distraction, presented by nige.

The first instalment of Interview52 is now complete! It started on Friday 18th July 2008 and finished on 13th September 2009. A little later than expected, but we got there.

52 mobloggers from around the world...

Some familiar, some not...

Each will publish a unique self-portrait, accompanied by a short interview.

Candid portrait meets candid interview.

The Rules

Every Friday the next interviewee in line will publish a new portrait and interview, consisting of their answers to the ten questions they have been given.

After they have published, the interviewee will then become the interviewer. They will be responsible for finding the next participant, as well as compiling the questions that this next person in line will answer. Interviewers can change as many or as few questions as they like, but they should change at least one before passing them on to the next lucky punter.

Thats it! Simple. More detailed instructions will be given to each interviewee as and when they are approached, so fear not.

The interviewees so far

I have nothing to wear!

Where does this find you? Tell us the story of how you got there.

Too much grub and inertia is the obvious way I got here. But the real reason is clear to anyone who knows me well. I reckon most women go through the I-have-nothing-to-wear routine from time to time. I do it every time I go anywhere that isn’t a routine outing. Meeting new people is always a major stress.

Why do you moblog?

Crickson made me do it! It is a damn fine way of meeting people you would not encounter in real life because your paths would never cross. It is a very mixed and diverse community. And I can socialise with folk without having to face the dilemma of the empty wardrobe. I do of course moblog naked most of the time.

What's the lie you tell people in answer to the embarrassingly awkward question you always seem to get asked (this one might take some thinking)

“I didn’t have my glasses on so I had no idea what I was doing” And I live by the adage ‘Why tell the truth when a fib will do’

Which of the five senses is most important to you, and why?

Sight – without a doubt! I was told in my mid twenties I would be practically blind in my 30’s. So far so good! Fortunately for me lens technology has improved far quicker than my sight has deteriorated. I do however expect to lose most of my useful sight at a relatively young age. Interestingly BB is losing his hearing – what a fine pair we are!

Tell us about the most heroic act you've ever performed.

I did CPR etc at a road accident, the day before I became a qualified first-aider. Not really heroic but I can’t think of anything else.

What would you do with your 15 minutes of fame?

I would tell them to watch Mr Benn to help them cope with the stresses in life; he is a very calming chap indeed. Or just try and make lots of cash, but only so I could donate it all to charity. Now if you had asked me about 15 minutes of power ………

What's so good about gingers? Tell the moblog community...

Being ginger certainly makes you stand out in a crowd. I met Helen and Beth in a pub last summer; we sat outside with the sun shining on our orangey bonce’s, there were many glances our way. Then the follicly challenged (i.e. you poor people who have not got tangoed hair) turned up and we were diluted.

What were you hoping not to be asked for interview52?

Who do you think you are?

What question would you like to ask the next moblog interviewee?

Now this is hard. In the words of my dear departed Gran “What next said the frog? When his tail dropped off” or Where do you go to my lovely , when you’re alone in your head?

What random piece of information or trivia fact do you use often to impress people?

I don’t think I do. I usually use humour, most often in the form of sarcasm and innuendo. I don’t do it to impress people as such, it is just such an ingrained habit I suppose. If I could remember it correctly I would tell ‘em about barnacle beavers, but I can’t so you will have to ask Spiderbaby

Helen says:

You've reminded me, Leeds is overdue a pub-based Moblog meet. I think we've been holding off because we didn't want Spiderbaby and Crickson to feel left out, but they moved away from us.

...tell me the thoughts that surround you, I want to look inside your head...

Ah damn, that's another day taken over by that one.

FilbertFox says:

yup we need the pub. We can drink gin and eat monster munch in their honour. And someone will have to take on the grumpy old man role.

So, tell us the thoughts

Heh, I'm sure we can find someone that will fit into that role. Wonder if the weather plans on being sunny any time this week.

Sprocket - you will have to ask Spiderbaby

10th Aug 2008, 23:20

Spiderbaby says:

Oooh! It's you! :)

You should definitely have a Leeds pub thing - we want to see pictures of people in pubs, and you can always take it in turns to be grumpy so that it's not too much for anyone :)

I'm not convinced you are alone in your head though... ;)

crickson says:

Well Spiderbaby will be back visiting Leeds soon - that'll be a good excuse for a moblog meetup. And if you go somewhere with WiFi I'll join you all for a pint over video skype!

Oh when is Spider baby due back - will it be before Joe and Suzi's move?

Viv says:

Sorry got sidetracked from FF's masterpiece - knew it was you from the piccy!
