I'm a mobile and web busybody, blogger and mobile commentator type person.

I've created with friends three main websites which centre on community and the evolving use of mobile technologies, Moblog, We're not afraid and Stopped Clocks.

I set up Moblog with Mat Brown, and in 2006 the Moblog team was joined by Jonathan Allen,Ben Godfrey, and Lori Fischler. We also license mobile blogging technologies. A version of our moblogging platform powers UK broadcaster Channel 4's The Big Art Mob, and Strange Cargo's Other Peoples Photographs Too

Contact us about mobile blogging stuff, we're lovely to work with.

I enjoy speaking on the areas I'm interested in, and have presented or been a panel member at many conferences and debates around the areas I'm focused on, so get in touch if you'd like me to come to an event or conference you are organising.

Things i did with my phone today:

Auto geocoded all the images i took. Shoot 25fps video. Used it as a wifi router for me and a friend. Pushed all the content id created through the day to the home network. Made calls. Sent sms updates to twitter. Moblogged. Browsed the web. Uploaded content to Moblog via my browser. Watched a youtube video. Used the onboard gps to find my way to a meeting. The charge lasted all day, only going kaput at 8pm. Thats pretty amazing when you think about it. The only thing i cant do is take a photo of my phone to send with this message, so instead you get a photo of my n800... Running android. :)

And what phone did you do all this with?

Nokia N82

Who's your provider/what kind of internet package did you get with the phone ?

Looking for a Viewty replacement :-(

Puddlepuff says:

The Viewty not good?

15th Aug 2008, 23:45

Alfie says:

dan, on 3's xseries package, unlimited data, they have a few xseries plans, exceedingly good imo.

Man, you should see all the things I did without a phone today ;).

dan jacob says:

Puddlepuff: battery died with first Viewty; USB doesn't work with Ubuntu, Mac or Vista; Bluetooth doesn't work with anything; protective sticky cover peels off in about 3 days; plus the stick-on-a string design for the pointer makes me look like a prat.

Plus, crappy pay-as-you-go package from Orange, which isn't Viewty's fault, but just another reason to change.

viewty's rubbish - and with a counterintuitive menu design

dan jacob says:

Yes, that too, especially for simple things like basic phone/messaging functions.

16th Aug 2008, 02:39

Alfie says:

I must admit the only thing I liked about the Viewty was the 120fps video.

16th Aug 2008, 11:44

Puddlepuff says:

Well, have taken that one of the list then. Thanks, makes the choices a lot easier ;)

16th Aug 2008, 12:16

dan jacob says:

Alfie: just FYI, ditched the Viewty today for the new Nokia 6220 + package from 3. It's currently in recharge, I'll start playing with it tomorrow.
