:-D He's so gorgeous and pretty that people often think he's a she :-D The thinking is that he's a lot of Grey with a bit of some sort of Bull - he actually has a very wide head.
As for the soppyness, we're suckers for anything like that as it's actually quite rare and taken a long time for that kind of thing to happen. (Hence the cuddled up pic appearing early in this moblog!)

Know what you mean - lived with rescue lurchers & one would keep biting t'other, water pistol her as we might. They did work out a truce but I'm quietly pleased that being the younger dog, he's survived her, & now has a friendly, cuddly companion for his twilight years.
