Fun With Movies is a puzzle game from an idea by monkeyfinger and bfish.
The object of the game is to work out what movie has been posted. The first person to guess then gets to post the next movie, and so on.
Rules of the game:
post 4 stills from a movie, or 4 images that are clues to the movie's title.
Keep track of replies to your post so you can tell when someone has guessed correctly
Let the winner know in the comments below so they can post their own!
trees lounge? no. haven't seen it but it sounds interesting judging by the imdb profile. steve buscemi is way cool...
I'd be interested to hear why you thought of that movie!
sounds like the title of an art masterpiece, doesn't it?
nope, not that...
...first two were trees. Last one might have been lounging. Wild stab in the dark.
rich - there's an irresistible logic to your thinking. nice try.
alfie - no, it stars neither of those guys.
okay, so here's a clue:
all the pictures refer to the content of the movie. none of them refer to the movie's title.
Does each picture refer to the same concept or different concepts?
mandy - no.
taniwha - interesting question. if I understand you correctly, the same concept.
oooh. that's the nymphomaniac movie, right?
unfortunately it's not that. the clues don't refer to the film's title, ie there's no "black", "adder", or anything like that in the title.
im stumped..
you are fiendish i tells ya.
also as a side note: you shouldnt google midget virgin at work!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! that genuinely made me laugh.
ok look, here's the thing: all of the pictures represent characters in the movie :)
A character in the film ... like the Breakfast Club? A geek, a brain, a jock and a rebel spend a day together and discover themselves while rocking out?
So what do we have when an evil manipulator, a midget, a virgin and some masks are put together in a film? Sounds like porn to me.
not breakfast club... or porn... but you've got the right idea.
it's a particular kind of virgin you're looking for...
Mr Black ... Mr Orange ...
Reservoir Dogs?
or
The Taking of Pelham 123
I love your guesses mr t but they're not right. rich had a good idea about the first two pictures...
none of those, dude. this movie was made a few years before star wars, is an entirely different genre and isn't american.
i may just start naming all films ever alphabetically until we get to the right one.
alphabetically? you'd get the answer much much sooner if you started at z and worked your way backwards...
The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover
Okay, so Black Adder was a butler not a thief in this series and the bottom one could be a joke but ...
... I'm so stumped by this. I thought I had it by linking colour to character but that's not it. And now I am stabbing in the dark.
sheesh. I've really made this hard, haven't I?
I think there's enough clues in the comments I left to guess the movie. I'm sure you've seen it. and if not, there's always ways of cheating, as we all know.
if it's just too stumpefying I could throw out some even more revealing clues...
I've probably seen it. Pre-1977, Non-UK [edit: ooops, meant non-USA]. Central character a virgin of some kind.
Could have been the [edit: 1955] version of the Virgin Queen but that was an American release.
The Virgin Soldiers?
What was the genre?
not a virgin queen. or a virgin soldier. but he's in a position of authority and has a badge to prove it. until the end...
no. the, ahem, "midget" thing is irrelevent. there are no midgets in this movie. and the fact that the masks are venetian is irrelevent too.
wind in the willows
Willow - the midget in willow
Virgin - I can only assume that some of the animals were Virgins
Masks - the animals were intending to be rather human, lamost like wearing a mask.
and blackadder - an adders an animal?
no even close.. nope.. didnt think so
spike, you're smart, man. I wish it was right. it's not.
animals wearing human masks? hehe, not quite...
no. but religion and holiness is the central theme of the movie, it's about the conflict between what different groups of people define as holy!
Dark knight? That's got a mask in it hasn't it? And Batman is God...
I knew someone would say the dark knight! it's not that, nor is it animal farm.
been a week since I posted this. someone has to get it today else I start cutting babies heads off.
I'm guessing that the Virgin Mary is a character in the film. Is that right?
you know, the irony of all this is that very early on someone correctly identified the relevence of two of the picture clues. that line of enquiry was never really followed up...
oh, at LAST!
rowan, willow, strange masked people and a middle aged virgin...
all characters in the wicker man.
"No! For the love of God, man! Can't you see - killing me won't bring back your apples!"
Seems so obvious now..
I've never even seen that film all the way through either. :)
Argggh! It's so obvious now. The virgin police man! The masked procession.
You know what else?
I posted The Wicker Man for Fun with Movies last year. I should have known.
Cool film though. Good soundtrack. Yeah.
hehe... I wondered if someone had posted it before but didn't bother checking. too many pages to trawl through.
I'm sure I did the Wicker Man too, back in the mists. It's definitely the sort of film I'd do. I think we need a new FWM movie: Don't do the Wicker Man.
