Hello all,
I have some exciting news...I've been invited to Parliament this morning by The Hon Michael J Martin MP, the Speaker of the House of Commons! It all feels very grand...I'm going along to help Parliament recruit more Poppy volunteers - although we've been lucky enough to have enlisted 300,000 helpers this year, we'd love to get the support of another 10,000. It's ambitious but I reckon it's do-able if both young and old are kind enough to get involved :) Fingers crossed my meeting goes well!
I blogged yesterday about those beautiful poppy jewels that are up for auction (there's still time to put in your bid!), and I've noticed a bit of a theme occuring. The West Bromwich Albion football club have also entered into the bidding spirit and are auctioning 18 special poppy-embroidered shirts for our Appeal!
The players wore a symbolic splash of red on their characteristic blue and white striped kits for their match against Blackburn (they drew 2-2), and now you can get hold of one by
clicking here! To make the shirts even better (if possible!), each player has signed their own....the auction closes on the 13th between 4.30pm and 5.30pm...What are you waiting for?
