My radio alarm woke me with this news. I guess that means there will be no long drawn out recount?

There's no recount in the world that will change this one.

I will totally admit to having a little tear in my eye, it's a beautiful thing.

Please don't shoot this one.

Well, I haven't shot any of the ones I've been extremely tempted to shoot, so you can probably count on me to leave this one unbuttbuttinated....

lets hope that he can live up to the expectation

Viv - that worries me a little. There is a whiff of the Messiah around him ... and people tend to crucify Messiahs.

My only expectation is "better". Should be easy enough to fill.

Understand I mean no slight against President Elect Obama, but to be honest, the USA would have elected a moderately bright farm animal over the most enlightened Republican after the last eight years of brutal and expensive wars for no reason, greed run amok on Wall Street, horrendous corruption, and heinous roll-back of human rights in the name of unachievable security goals.

It just would have been a closer race.

I certainly have my own list of measures by which I will be grading Obama's performance over the next few years, and not all of those points are merely repairs to the structure damaged by the happily soon-to-be-previous administration.

But in order to counter the Messiah Syndrome thing pretty quickly, I do hope he exhibits some sort of not-quite-crippling flaw soon. Even if he has to fake one up. For his own protection.

Viv says:

He should take you on as an adviser!

7th Nov 2008, 17:25

Viv, that would be a dream job for me. Even the pope has a science advisory council (of not necessarily Catholics), and that kind of thing would be right up my alley. I could get paid to stay on top of scientific and technological and/or human/civil rights developments and explain them to the president and whoever else needs to know.

My résumé is basically crap, but I have excellent references....
