Sucker for reflections and repeating geometry. Erratic uploader but always taking more pics. Now more behind than ever thanks to several recent work trips.
Currently shooting with a Panasonic DMC-TZ3, which has all the zoom I could ever need, but lacks some other refinements. It'll do until there's an affordable SLR with enormo-zoom that I can fit in my pocket; watching the Four Thirds consortium with interest ...
Heh. Honestly, I actually prefer my piste ungroomed, and with about a foot of powder on it, but it was such a gorgeous day that I wasn't complaining :)
There's a lot to be said for a long, technically undemmanding pootle in the scenery. Especially in weatherlike that. :)
Absolutely :) In fact, I stuck entirely to technically undemanding, because it turns out that at -20C, the board sticks to the snow and turns really slowly, and that freaks me out.
Another reason to be keen on pootling - all that healthy xtreme-type exercise has a phenomenally high attrition rate. These days, it's quicker to list the bones & joints I haven''t damaged & even langlauf's a bit risky, never mind DH or boarding. Ho hum, a dyspraxic skier was always going to be a triumph of hope over experience... ;)
Can't beat skiing through trees.
You know I said I wasn't jealous? I lied...
Hildegard - ouch! It is kind of brutal. Husband manages to bruise his ribs when he falls over - don't ask me how - and I fluffed a jump earlier today and have a nice stiff shoulder from my emergency landing ... that'll teach me to try new stuff ;)
Dhamaka - oh yes. Scared myself good and properly today!
Jane - sorry about that. Will try not to have any fun, if that helps ;)
Taniwha - there was much shooshing! And may be more - forecast has it warming up towards the end of the week. Better than crunching!
Wow, fantastic!
Have you waxed your board recently? I've had the sticky problem in Whistler before and it's kinda weird not getting the acceleration you expect when turning. If it all melts out there, the local Vancouver mountains have 250cm of snow at the moment, and Whistler has had a huge dump over the last few days too, so you could always make a trip west!
Damn, that's a lot of snow for Grouse et al! Not too surprised though, given the snow there before Christmas. Yeah, got my board waxed the other day - we had a couple of days where it rained, then everything froze (ack!) then a bit more snow yesterday and it's been pretty sweet since. Going home Wednesday :( :( :(
Happy riding to you, though! Get it while it's hot :D
