So disappointed not to have been lucky enough to get a ticket. The whole free draw thing reminded me of the search for the Golden Tickets in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Will have to content myself with the radio broadcast and the boxed set I guess....
So wish I could've been there! It even looks like musical history in the making... Can't wait for me box set!
Still can't believe i won a golden ticket! Such a brilliant night, feel very privileged to have been there......can't wait for the box set - to re-live it all over again!
Hey guys, riveting and evocative performance as always! roll on Wembley XXX
thankyou so much!!!!!!!
Hi all. New here but have been enjoying Elbow's music for many years.
Just watched the Radio 2 concert and was blown away! Ordered the boxset immediately after. Roll on March!
WOW the concert was just fantastic, are they releasing it on CD/DVD? as it is an absolute must have!

I listened on iplayer having missed the Radio 2 broadcast (why did it end so abruptly Radio 2!). It was an awesome experience especially hearing Grounds for Divorce with that wonderful orchestra-I can genuinely say the sound left me watery eyed-I've followed the guys since 2000-(late I know!) And only now can I say the name of the band and get a nod of recognition. The Seldom Seen Kid is rarely of my player, and at last at age 53 I've found a band I can share the love of with my 21 year old son. Keep the wonderful music coming lads.
Watch the performance on BBC interactive by pressing the red button on your remote when viewing a BBC channel.. alternatively, go here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/event/elbow/
if you want to pre-order the cd / dvd boxset go to http://www.elbow.co.uk
and don't forget, there are still some tickets going for a few of the venues..
go to http://www.seetickets.com and type "elbow" into the search box.
.. and i'll see you there!
:)
Have been watching the concert on the red button today through 5 speaker system & the best word I can come up with for it is "Magnificent"! The orchestra and choir really enhance the band. Seeing the guys at Wembley 14/3 for the first time. Can't wait.
JUST LOST THE WHOLE WEEKEND, WATCHING ELBOW WITH THE BBC CONCERT OCHESTRA, AND THE CHANTERY CHOIR,ON BBC RED BUTTON. HAVE BEEN TO MANY CONCERTS OVER THE YEARS, BUT THIS WAS BY FAR THE GREATEST VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE BY FAR, WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED. WATCHED IT WITH MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND YEAR OLD MOTHER, BOTH OF WHOM WERE BLOWN AWAY, AS WAS I
Tower Crane Driver - just ravishing. Sounds a bit weird but have decided to change my will and specify that this version is played at my funeral. Hope it's not too soon though!!
I don't really know the band - I'm just watching the performance via the red button - it's QUALITY! The last time I felt I could say that was Nirvana unplugged in New York. Magic.
I came across this concert on the red button last night and it was lovely - a realy lush sound from the guitars and strings.
Loved the concert loved the orchestra and thought choir was brill
Watched the concert on red button with my Dad and Gran.twice on Saturday 4 times on Sunday and 3 times tonight. My dad was going to take us to see them in Edinburgh, but the concert was sold out unfortunately. So if you want to see them .GET YOUR TICKETS SOON BEFORE THEY SELL OUT. Anyway the concert was fantastic, it was the first time I have really listened to an ochestra and choir with a band and it was simply amazing. Mhairi Sinclair age 12

Just to add that I found the looped broadcast on Sunday night-and I've pre-ordered the boxed set-Can't wait. I hope they re-instate the deleted expletive in 'Some Riot' and that they get some of the guitar balance better (just a minor flaw btw). Also anyone know whether the band plan to re-issue any of their old videos-just been watching on youtube and they're a revelation. I'd buy a boxed set of them!
Enjoyed viewing much more...you just have to see you guys to see how much this means to you, hope the boxed set includes DVD of concert not just audio.
Wow! it does, so happy!! See you again sometime, we were there at Sage!
A-MAY-ZING! what more can i say, they just get better and better. Please do even more!
Caught this by watching it on Digi TV pressing the RED button on the other night . . . WoW! Have to admit I am a late follower of the Band.
But this brought back great memories of Delamere Forest ...[Mantra Lunar] ....and Liverpool Univ Gig [Hey Jude] last year. Brilliant
Right Elbow....very annoyed with you guys. I only discovered you from release of Seldom Seen Kid....and loved every single track from first listen. Keen to hear more I then purchased Leaders of the free world.....also superb, not a bad track on either album.....so why am I annoyed...because where have you guys been? For me, Elbow break the monotony of the average British band (no names, but you can guess who I mean)....Elbow have their own sound. Superb vocals, superb band....it's so obvious and rewarding when good artists like yourselves evidently give it your all....and that is what music is all about for me....not manufactured.
O and the recent BBC concert was just plain superb....
Please please please keep giving us albums....
James...
when are you going to buy "Asleep in the Back" and "Cast of Thousands" ?
: )
Like everybody else caught the concert on the red button Simply beautiful!!!!!I'm into Pink floyd and genesis but as a 60 year old I am always thrilled to hear quality music.Got to get to one of the live gigs!!!
I was blown away by the quality and emotion of the concert. Great to see all of you just awed by the whole thing.....a wonderful experience for you I'm certain. Came to Gateshead last year and will be at Edinburgh on 6th March and I can't wait!!!!! love Deni
Like James, I didnt find Elbow until " Seldom Seen Kid".. Couldnt stop playing it.. Went to see them at Wolverhampton and was totally blown away.. Hearing "Newborn" for the first time left me spellbound. I'm 50 and have never felt such a connection to a band and their music in my entire life.. Had to hear more so I bought " Leaders Of The Free World" , "Cast Of Thousands" and "Asleep In The Back".. Best albums I've ever bought.. (Ceri is right James, you need to buy them all) Watched the truly wonderful concert and am eagerly awaiting my boxed set.. Wish I'd found you guys earlier.. All I can say is " sorry I'm late. but I'm here now and will be always"..
If you are missing seeing the abbey road thing on BBCi .... have a look at this gig to get an elbow fix.

got your tickets yet?? see you all there!
Where is the CD/DVD of this concert available???
I can't find a trace of it!
Sit tight everyone.
"We have been notified that Trinity Street, the providers of the official elbow online store have ceased trading.
We are currently investigating any outstanding purchases / pre-orders and will ensure that these are honoured.
This may take a little time so if you have made an order that you have not yet received, please do bear with us."
I'm from Toronto. Saw the the lads at the Avalon in Manchester in the fall while visiting family up in Burnley in the fall. Twice as brilliant as I thought it would bed. Any chance of a solo show in Toronto around the Coldplay tour? We would love to see you in the right venue with the right fans, us!

this was a great gig i just wish i could be there with them on the center stage
this band is like nothing else on the market. they are just superb. they know know how how to string a superb melody and harmony together like no one else. oh what it must be like to be as talented as the crew,. no one else can string a set of well coordinated Choruses like they do. they just seem to latch on to the feelings of the song so perfectley. this is epic melody making in Process and song making wouldnt do it justice
I see now that the CD/DVD is available at HMV online. Does this mean that the Trinity Street orders are invalid?
scott, the cd's are only available for pre-order on HMV they aren't out yet. The trinity orders are going to be honoured. so sit tight for now until you hear otherwise.
here is the latest news on the cd/dvd boxset.
"Trinity Street, the providers of the Official Elbow Online store, ceased trading last week.
The band were extremely concerned to ensure this would not affect their fans, especially those who had already ordered 'The Seldom Seen Kid' - Live At Abbey Road.
Therefore, all orders for the boxset will now be sent out by our new trusted partner hmv. com.
If you have pre-ordered already, your order will be processed and you need do nothing.
If you haven't ordered your copy yet then click here to pre-order it now from hmv. com for delivery on the release date of 30th March."
Bit annoyed that the CD is now £7 cheaper than it was on this site. Wish I'd waited now :(
Waited for what?
Originally, the boxset was only going to be available through Trinity. No one could have known that Trinity was going to go bust.
Admittedly, the fact that HMV doesn't charge for postage and has elected to sell the box set £4.01 cheaper has meant that some of us (me included) have spent more on the product tho.
If you had waited, and Trinity hadn't have gone bust it wouldn't have been any cheaper tho.
I'm not overly bothered by the whole thing, not that i'd disagree with anyone that was a miffed by it. I can understand but not empathise.
KB..
I have to say , I think you are being a tad ungrateful..If you stop to think how many of us have pre-ordered the boxed set and that all the money we paid has gone, I think its bloody good of the guys to make sure we dont lose out.. I was more concerned to think about how much its cost them.. If it hadnt been for their gesture I'd have just re-ordered and paid again..
Yes Ceri, all I meant is that I'm a bit miffed at it and wish I'd waited. I'm annoyed at myself, not at them. And I'm not being ungrateful, I'm just not made of money!
waited for what tho?
cheap sell offs on ebay? The HMV thing was never part of the original deal.
The band feel gutted about this. All the money that we paid to Trinity has been sucked up by liquidation so the fact that the orders are being honoured is a testament to how the band value their fans committment.
Magnificent gig at Bournemouth last night. Mrs P and I had a wonderful evening. Thankyou.
I'm like Phil. Thanks elbow for nearly making me cry in the the middle of the day at a set of lights listening to your beautiful music. A groupie at 51, go figure.....
Love your music, especially your album The Seldom Seen Kid and I've picked out "on a day like this" to be the song of the day because today, the 5th, is my birthday. And I was searching more information about the band and I found out that Guy's birthday is on 6th. So, I wish you happy many returns!
Greetings from Brazil,
Jeanine Will.
just read your comments ceri and i couldn't agree more with what you have had to say. For a band to honour the pre-orders, just shows what a bunch of lads they are. They could of just said sorry its out of our hands. so we lose a few quid off the hmv price, better than having to order again. Enjoy Australia lads, few of my mates can't wait for your sydney show. love and peace from sunny Manchester.
Caught you by accident on the BBC repeat red button thing one night and was instantly hooked. Play SSK constantly. Embarrassing really, at 54. Saw the live performance at Blackpool Saturday night with 27 year old daughter. Have seen them all over the years, but this actually beats them all for pure joy and authenticity. I even stood for 4 hours. Magnificent, thank you. Daughter loved it as well.
Colin
This was such a wonderful show.
The Portsmouth concert you did was the best I've ever seen.
Please please please please please come to the IOW festival!
It would mean so much to your loyal fans over here!
Got my live at abbey road box set yesterday. I was one of many who oredered through trinity street. THANKYOU, elbow for sorting it out, you are all wonderful people, love and peace
Props to Elbow for sorting out the TrinityStreet fiasco - box set arrived yesterday
The mixing and mastering of the 5.1 DVD sounds absolutely awesome - plug it into the biggest surround system you can find!
I paid and pre ordered through Trinity and haven't received mine yet, I've got a payment confirm email from07/02/09
I paid for the CD and then cancelled a couple of days later (because my partner had also ordered) and got an email confirming the cancellation. Then, Trinity went bust and I have had neither a refund OR the CD! I've tried emailing warious people but have been ignored. Any ideas what I should do?
I bought mine on 5th February, got a mail on 7th March thanking me for bearing with them and since then nothing. Can't even find an address to ask about it...
I appreciate there's no obligation under these circumstances, but still...
