Lots to see. I expected to spend a good hour there, but we ended up staying all afternoon. We were lucky with the weather, no one else braved the elements so we got the museum to ourselves. The volunteers were the only other people there (almost), and they took time to talk to us.

Get up there quick, V. Noticed recently that visitor numbres are so low as to threaten their funding.

Yeah, went up there ages ago to do a recce for a friend's Reception class trip but haven't been since, perhaps I ought t go make up the numbers. ;)

If you want a traditional boat experience, the Wooden Boat Society offer the opportunity to boat-sit one of their craft for a night at moorings by the Portland Basin Industrial Musuem. The museum's having a refurb at the moment, but I don't think that affects the WCBS arrangements.
