"Dull is the soul of he who would pass by"

One I snapped on my mobile up in the Lake District, but couldn't post at the time due to the lack of signal.

This stone bench was just outside of our farmhouse at the foot of the Coniston Old Man. It was commissioned by a local woman in memory of her husband, and in the corner was the above quote, which I looked up, and turns out to be an edited version of a Wordsworth extract:

“Dull would he be of soul who could pass by a sight so touching in its majesty”.

I was quite overcome with emotion for a few moments whilst I sat there and looked up. What a lovely tribute.

Oh my. Very poignant shot and words, Nige. It never pays to take anything for granted, even the view. Faved.

I was sucked in by the photo but I do love the quote and the back-story, too. Lovely, but yes, also poignant. I've not even been married a year yet and that kind of thing always chokes me up!
