I had a craving for pie a couple of days ago, Cherry Pie. I've never
made a pie before, so this is a first, a Cherry Pie made from scratch.
Thanks to Nigel Slater and his cook book, I found a pie that "takes no
skill" to make, and it is lovely, especially with whipped cream. I'm
going to make more pie from now on. ^_^

In the interests of SCIENCE, and more specifically, my SCIENCE teaching,
I've ordered 100 glow sticks, so expect some glow in the dark fun in a
few days...

It is! Ridiculously easy recipe as well. Flour, sugar, lard, butter and fruit, and that's it!

God bless Nigel Slater. His "Real food" cookbook is just brilliant.

What are you planning to do with the glowsticks lethe? I've done a bit of playing before with them, usually ending up with a desk all glowy and slimey for a few days :)

Mainly I'll be cutting them open for the Cyalume in them. I can use different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide to show what varying concentration has on a reaction. It will hopefully help show the kids that more reactions are taking place (so a brighter glow) tthus speeding it up. Heating it as well should be fun, and I can teach about energy transfers, from chemical to light. It should be something different to keep them interested more than anything.
