I make things on the web, mobile and in the actual world.

I've done lots of bits and bobs over the years, and right now I'm mostly working on this.

I enjoy speaking about things I like, most recently this. You can email me if you'd like, and I'm on twitter.

Extremely gutted. Got this this morning, communication with the seller had been pretty much fine. I plug it in, switch it on and hey presto!.... nothing. RROD. Battery fine, console borked. I mean, who *does* this? Who thinks "I know, I've got a borked Xbox, Ill sell it on ebay as working and get paid yo!" I mean, what a total fucker!

Paypal is holding the payment to them until I leave feedback, which is a good thing. I've checked with Xbox and actually this console is still within warranty for fixing this particular error, so I can get it picked up and fixed and theyll have it back to me within 2-3 weeks.

The thing is, do I do that and demand a reduction from the seller? Do I not and ship it back to them after getting my money back? I sure as shit am not paying to send it back to them, so theyll have to paypal me the money for that right? I need advice folks, what should I do?

It really is, in the long run.
No really. I'm guessing you want this mainly for media serving. So to save you a few months of realising the limitations and annoyances of the 360 (starting with IT SOUNDS LIKE A HOOVER and ending with KEEPS FUCKING BREAKING DOWN with moments of OH HEY I MUST BUY A SEPERATE REMOTE AND A WIRELESS DONGLE AND IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE A HOOVER inbetween.

My 360 broke down 4 times in the space of a year. It spent more time at the microsoft repair centre than it did in my house, and it generally broke down within 10 usage hours of being returned to me. (yes, this was over a year. I'd get it back, be entirely dispirited for a few months, wary of turning it on, get excited about a new game, attempt to play game, get red ring of death shortly thereafter. Repeat.)
Whereas the PS3 is really quiet and shows no sign of fucking up after nearly 18 months of daily use. I know it's the more expensive deal initially but to be honest it's a far better deal in the long run.

Also, you don't have to pay to play online, there's a whole bunch of really good games you can download for less than £5, and generally speaking it's a nicer gadget to share your house with than the 360, unless you like watching TV with the hoover on.

I can understand your eagerness to give microsoft your money, of course.

Sucks the big one. I would suck up the postage, get the paypal refund, move on - there are better things to spend your time on :)
