And so she came in from playing out with her little friend:

DD: I've got back ache
Me: How have you got back ache?
DD: We dug a grave.
Me: Who for?
DD: A poor dead hedgehog..
Me: Are you sure it was dead? it wasn't just asleep or hibernating or something was it?
DD: Oh Mu-um! Of course he was dead. His head was part gone and his skull was all exposed and one of his legs had been eaten off and...
Me: OK,ok....Wash your hands before we eat then...

Love the matter of fact attitude kids have to death. Nicely captured by the Go Between's song 'When People are Dead?'

Thanks all.

taniwha: I don't know that song and have had limited success looking for the lyrics.

Thanks cariadus. I like the look of concentration on her face. I have no idea now what it was she was concentrating on but I know it wasn't her homework or the revision for next weeks SATs tests.....

It's a fantastic portrait. Your DD sounds quite a girl!

8th May 2009, 16:59

Twiglet says:

Thanks Javama. I sometimes think how boring I must seem and how it must look like she is the only thing in my life. And yet BS and I have really worthwhile careers and we both have hobbies, interests and loads of other really exciting and remarkable family members.

This Divine Daughter comes from powerful genetic soup and is bursting with personality. If I had a quid for every time someone said *I've never met anyone like her...* : )

Javama says:

Twiglet - "boring" is not a word I would ever associate with you! And the pictures and stories about DD are a delight. So please keep as you are.
