Damn, that was fast. Thought you might get it.. : )
It's a stunning book, I love it. Scares the shit out of me though, even several weeks after finishing it..
I was just describing it to my girlfriend less than two days ago.along with the fact that I had coincidentally been reading it just after someone shoved a copy of Borges's Labyrinths into my hands.
The book never spooked me too badly. I have a high threshold for that sort of thing. But if I were the typesetter, I'm certain I would still be having nightmares....
It's a damned fine read, though. More accurately, it's three or four damned fine reads. It left a mark.

I usually have a pretty high threshold for that kind of fear, but this spooked me in the same way that watching all of Twin Peaks in three days spooked me, just a general kind of unease with Reality for a while.
That's what's scary about it, it's all so Real, and the fear that the characters feel is the fear of the weirdness, the breaking of Reality.
But yes, bloody good read. Must have been a nightmare to write, and, as you say, typeset.
hmmn. Well, thats a great reason to get it.
*searches for palm reader version.
It won't work on your Palm, it just won't. Honest.
Four-dimensional text, in some parts. Plus you need to be able to write on the pages, as some of it is in code, which needs decoding. By brute force, which is fun.
wow!!!!!!!!!!
it sounds amazing.
Have to get that one then. Sounds like a grown up adventure choose your route kind of book.
heh. If only you knew what you'd just said..
Choose your route. Oh, the irony of it all. :)
Typesetting and codes intregue me, but I'll be staying away because of my extremely high wuss-factor.
