In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Better than I expected because I've been told I'm a 'grey area' for radiotherapy. This is to be verified, but it looks as if the chemotherapy (no date for starting yet because I want a second opinion and need to visit another consultant) will be 6 3-week sessions, the first three of which will be 'true' chemo and the second three are anti-oestrogens.

For the cancer buffs around LVI+ ER+ PR+ HER2- (which makes me wonder what happened to HER1)

This shot taken today. It is *so* good to be out and about again

Caine says:

Oh, this is good news. Such good news. I wish you didn't have to go through chemo, but that too will be over soon enough. It's better than I can say to see you so happy in your restored freedom.

thank you
I am really, really not looking forward to losing eyebrows and eyelashes. Anyone with hints and tips please email me separately

oh yes, and this also means that if all goes according to plan I should be out of chemo in time to cover the Climate Change Summit in December... If I can cajole myself into it in the coming months..

22nd May 2009, 00:10

Caine says:

Well, the possibility of losing my hair would have me upset for a bit; I've never had enough eyebrows and eyelashes to begin with, it wouldn't be much difference if they fell off my face. (I was a bit over 2 months early, and utterly without hair at birth. The only hair I've ever had a lot of is on my head.)

I have no doubt you can get in to cover the Climate Change Summit. I'll definitely be following you.

A friend told me that if you choose the scarf route for head covering, silk is much the best.

Having some mobility an autonomy sounds great. I really do not like being stuck in a hospital. Glad to hear about the radiotherapy too.

I lost my head hair, but not my eyelashes or eyebrows. And my darn leg hair still grew!! Not fair. So hopefully it'll just be a bald scalp for you. I'll dig back through my info though and email you about the tips and tricks I was given to try and stave it off!

I'm so glad that you're out and about. Is the weather there good?

22nd May 2009, 20:57

thanks all
I'd appreciate that YourHermione
George - I'll wait for the second opinion but have been told as an average that the treatment proposed gives an 85% probability of it not coming back and I really would rather not do it

Great that you're out and about again, but don't push it too much.
*wags finger*
did you manage to get hold of a camera?

23rd May 2009, 09:10

I'm trying - honest - and someone volunteered their camera but as I'm relying on a friend to collect it I'm not yet sure...

24th May 2009, 02:35

Hi guys, I know you mean well but please stop telling me I'll be OK without hair. I will live with it, sure. I might even have fun with it, if I'm well enough but it will never be an idea I like.

with regards to the radio - of course I'll listen to the second opinion too but I'd be a lot happier to avoid the radiotherapy

jle - it was great, thank you. I'll ask F but think he only shot my face

24th May 2009, 19:38

yourhermione says:

I was *NOT* ok without hair. I learned to joke about it, but I was one seriously unhappy camper. I didn't keep a single one of my hats once it grew back.

And I can't find your email! Do you still have mine? Shoot me a note if you do. I have info for you.
