Perhaps these two things wouldn't go together for most people, but this seems to be a little ritual of mine.

The place where I get my nails done is just down the road from a little shrine I have been frequenting ever since New Year's Day this year. It was the shrine at which I made my first prayer of the year - an auspicious occasion in Japan, most people go to a shrine on New Year's morning - and so it's sort of a comforting ritual to keep going back. I feel a connection to it and I feel like it does me good.

So every time I go back to get my nails done, I pray at the shrine. This also happens to be down the road from my new work place, so I see myself going there a lot more regularly once my job starts...

Oh. And of course; I got my nails done. :D
