Wendle, I came very close to diving into the waves myself. If it wasn't for the fact that I was had a camera and phone on me I might well have done. As it was I just got very wet shorts :)

AF :) A lot of the beaches around here get good waves, there are some good surfing beaches just round the coast. It's quite unusual for this beach, though.

Twiglet :)

paintist, thanks!

Factotum says:

"I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied...."

I'm hoping to get out to the eastern seaboard in a couple of weeks; this photo makes me quite homesick for my childhood summers.

Oh Factotum - a jerk back into the depths of my memory...

"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by",

I don't know about the tall ship or the star.. my Dad used to quote this poem to me as a child

There was something about a windy day and clouds flying and sea gulls crying... Masefield isn't it?

Hubby - that is a fantastic photo - I can almost imagine the boy riding the surf on his board..... lovely sight

Factotum, I would get sea fever too if I was away from it for too long. Hope you make it to the sea soon.

TOH, thanks, there were some surfers on the beach today. Was kind of wishing I could join them :)

He was OK because I wasn't actually swimming. I wasn't even in all that deep.

Apparently we're about to get the tail end of a hurricane so that's probably why the waves on this beach are half decent at the moment. Love to see what they're like on some of the surfing beaches around here.

taniwha, yeah, I like body surfing, although I prefer diving into waves head on.

mystertmo, thanks!

Caine, thanks, I feel for you. I'd really miss it too if we lived inland.
