I'm a British mathematician, been in the Netherlands for 35 years ("chercher la femme"). Recently became a double proud grandfather. Have a compulsion, but it's not secret, to want to correct miscarriages of justice involving abuse of science, see Dhamaka's plea
THE 9-11 was my 50th birthday. That's why I use it in my internet name, but English fashion, 11-9. The other part is my surname.

I often do tend to look a little tired these days - we academics have to work so bloody hard; lectures just started, I have a heavy schedule, and the first week of term is the heaviest. But I must also admit to fancying a glass of wine a bit more often than is good for me. BUT today I have a good excuse for looking tired: this morning I spent clearing a (Dutch: therefore, water filled, wide, and deep) ditch of rushes (wild irisis or yellow flags), it was a "communal work morning" for my sector of our allotment gardens. Wow that was heavy work... But fun.
