I was removed because a few parents who thought they could do a better job and for not being competitive enough.
I ran the team in a fair way, that gave every boy a game, not just the "better" ones. My biggest thing that I would stress to them before every game, was to play with a smile on your face and enjoy it, no matter the result.
Whilst the league appreciated the way we played by awarding us the fair play trophy, which we beat about 60 other teams to across all six divisions, that didn't sit well with the club, nor some of the parents who thought that their boys were better, so I was unceremoniously dumped at our registration meeting without any warning at all.
Holy shit! I had no idea you were such a dozy git!
Only joking! Blimey! I had no idea that as a parent I was supposed to be competitive and mental on my daughter's behalf. Good job I'm not raising a team player..
Bollocks to 'em Paul. We love you.. x
Hahahaa thanks T :D
SLG will tell you I was really upset by it at the time, because I'd spent 2.5 years with the boys from when they were 7 and I'd get maybe 3 or 4 turn up at training, to the end of last season, where there'd be 17 or 18 every week.
I really enjoyed training them and watching them develop, they are a lovely bunch of boys who I hope will remember some of the things I taught them as they go on.
As for the parents and the club? F*ck'em!! :)
I'm sure the boys will remember you and what you taught them.
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better about it now.
Yeah, now I'm not that fussed, things move on. We saw the boys at a tournament a couple of weeks back and they pretty much all ran over to say hello when they saw me. That meant a lot and spoke volumes :)
It' good the kids like you. Hopefully you were able to teach them something important while you were with them despite their parents.
