Oh yay. Torrential downpours, possible tornadoes...

Super. Sounds wonderful. Can't wait. *eyeroll*

That would explain why the weather looks like such crap out there.

Hm. Best braid my hair then.

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service

...SEVERE WEATHER AND TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS POSSIBLE TODAY...

THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE KATRINA WILL RAPIDLY MOVE NORTHEASTWARD INTO SOUTHERN CANADA DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS TODAY. A TRAILING COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE TRI-STATE AREA DURING THE AFTERNOON AS WELL. AHEAD OF THIS COLD FRONT...AN EXTREMELY MOIST AIRMASS WILL BE PRESENT ACROSS OUR REGION. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP IN THIS VERY MOIST AIRMASS TODAY. SINCE THE AIRMASS ACROSS OUR REGION IS NOTHING SHORT OF TROPICAL...ANY SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM THAT DEVELOPS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS...WITH HOURLY RAINFALL RATES POSSIBLY EXCEEDING TWO INCHES. RAINFALL RATES THIS HEAVY WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF ROADWAYS AND LOW LYING AREAS.

ANOTHER POTENTIAL THREAT TODAY WILL BE SEVERE WEATHER. WIND SHEAR WILL BE VERY STRONG TODAY. EVEN STILL...THE THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE CONDITIONAL UPON THE DEVELOPMENT OF INSTABILITY. IF THE TRI-STATE AREA CAN BREAK OUT OF THE CLOUDS FOR AWHILE TODAY...THEN MODERATE INSTABILITY WILL DEVELOP. THIS STILL REMAINS TO BE SEEN. HOWEVER...IF THE ATMOSPHERE CAN BECOME UNSTABLE ENOUGH...IT WILL COMBINE WITH THE STRONG SHEAR TO AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORM LINE SEGMENTS AND POSSIBLY EVEN SUPERCELLS. THE MAIN THREAT WOULD BE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.

STAY TUNED FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS BY YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE....

Ack, stay dry.

We had the wind today (made my hair reduce in length by a full two inches) - but could you send us some rain, please?

Remnants Of Katrina. Sounds like a band name... not a very good band name admittedly but a band name none the less.

You know how they had to re-arrange the VMAs because of it? The Metro headline was "Katrina and the waves Take dDown MTV"

No need to worry about a liite lwind and rain. And we are already getting calls to help rebuild the south part of the state. But I fear my beloved Vieux Carre may be salvaged, but it will still sustain damage. I fear the city will never quite be the same.

the vieux carre, *maybe*. but I don't think so. they're calling for total evac. now. the levee break was the end- the bowl is filling.

I can handle it up here, whatever that whore manages to dish out. However, what she's done to Mama Bayou is devestation. I've been spending lots of phone time counseling friends who were evac'ed, hearing horrible shit from people who have been in contact with others down there, and worrying like hell about the two friends who didn't leave (one of whom is in the goddamn 9th Ward). It's been a rough few days. I won't be sorry to see the ass end of her wither and die.
