Well, this started out as a way that my wife could follow my lone progress in my little sports car from Birmingham UK to Orkney.

Been there, done that 2 day there, 13hour return trip.

So now follow me: an Englishman representing Americans and based in a French office near Paris. With an appartment in Versailles and trips back to the UK anything can happen and, frankly, I've no idea where this will lead!

Versailles Apartment - Bed 2

The next challenge was to get it out of the car at the apartment. Not sure I
liked some of the clattering noises the large box made. Next to get it up to
the first floor, too big to fit in the lift the big box went on my back like
a Himalayan Sherpa (easier than I expected). Finally, assembly. First
diagram in the manual (inside the box) was a picture of one man carrying the
box next to a cross, a picture of two people carrying the box next to a
tick. Marvellous, fabulous advice. By midnight the bed was made. I've made a
few Ikea beds and I follow the instructions carefully (I'm an engineer but
have learnt not to use my Engineering Bravado "Instructions are for
Wimps!"). But somehow I always end up doing at least one of the steps two or
three times. Kudos to Ikea for the ever more complex engineering structure
their beds seem to have. This wooden bed has so much metal and cross bracing
that without the slats it looks like either a small part of the Clifton
Suspension Bridge or an unidentified part of a Wellington Bomber.

If you want to get a sense of scale, the bed is 200cm x 160cm which, I think, equates to either a Queen or King Size. Don't forget though, that this is my only room.
