Hi, I'm Rick also known as Mr. C. I used to shoot with a Canon SLR, but that was a long while back. I got a new camera, an Olympus SP-510UZ on 11/06/06. I've added a Nikon D90 with a 55-200 lens to my camera bag in 2010. I'll get a camphone if Almont ever enters the 21st century.

I'm now shooting with a brand new Nikon D90 with a 55-200mm VR lens.

Caught this Northern Harrier hunting over a wheat field. After he dove to the ground, he ran around for a minute before he took off again. I don't know whether he was successful getting lunch.

Fantastic sequence! Highlight chosen pretty much at random just to ensure more people see 'em.

Kudos!

Rick says:

Thanks, Factotum. He was very intent on his hunt, and mostly ignored me.
Thanks for the highlight, Rich! This was his second dive, with a hover once between dives.

Thanks, Viv and Swamprose! I crested a hill, and saw him dive, pulled over on the shoulder of the road, and got my camera out. Shot some pics, too far away for my lens. Drove up closer, just in time to get this series. Was very exciting! Harriers are usually very shy, and just go away.
