1. Turbulent water as the river snakes its way west.


We left the Shropshire Union Canal yesterday and turned west onto the Trent & Mersey Canal, heading for the Anderton lift that lets us down on to the River Weaver. The river is running alongside us now as it makes its way down into Winsford and onto Northwich and Anderton, which is where we join it.
