I love the slug! Looks like a species of the genus Limax :) (a quick Google reveals it to probably be Ariolimax columbianus, the banana slug)

Thanks! Yup, it's a Pacific Banana Slug. There are a lot of them around here, but the black spotted ones are slightly less common. The caterpillar was quite cute. It was so small I'm not entirely sure how Sam found it.
