This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

So it's getting pretty dark and we're wandering around on our guided tour and this couple comes into view. I snap the rather bad 3rd shot (my excuse is we were in motion on bikes at the time) and the talk starts... You know how it goes "who is she", "what do they think they're doing", "she's really posing, isn't she" etc... I hate that kind of speculation, the kind that superficially sounds OK but has all kinds of unspoken extras attached, so I walk up to them and ask.

They're on holiday from The Hague. I ask if I can take some shots of them together because they're so striking. Sent them copies the following night. Had I not been obliged to rush off to find the tour group (again) I could have done much, much better

MandyP says:

How lucky for them that you came along; they'd never have gotten such lovely holiday snaps.

(Is it so wrong that I read the title of your post to the tune of "My Sharona"?)

mshedgehog says:

They look so happy. They remind me of 17th century couple portraits - the plainness of the black and white, the carefully put together fashionability, his Albrecht Dürer hairstyle and her pearly skin, and they look proud of each other.

(I know Dürer was C16 but I had both in the visual)
