If you haven't read Joe Lansdale, start. Immediately. Some of the best you'll ever read. I can't recommend The Complete Drive-In enough and while I'd love to describe it, I wouldn't be able to do it justice. You have to read it for yourself and hope Popalong Cassidy doesn't show up in your dreams...

I hope you enjoy his work. It's outrageous, witty and fun. Joe Lansdale is a Texan, and his characters reflect real Texas. A friend of mine grew up in East Texas and has nothing good to say about the experience or the people. According to her, Joe makes the people both nicer and more redeemable than they actually are. She has trouble reading his works because the characters are so real, they bring back memories for her.

While I read a fair amount of his books some years back, there are dozens I didn't read, so I'm happily catching up. I don't know if you ever saw the movie Bubba Ho-Tep - Joe Lansdale wrote it.

I'm working on Leather Maiden now.
