*If We Return,will England be

Just England still to you and me?

The place where we must earn our bread?

We, who have walked among the dead....*

Dazzle_Dust says:

Lovely.
I have a poppy pin as normally I loose 30 poppies each year. So far so good with the pin.

Thank you Dazzle_Dust, thank you taniwha.

taniwha: I think this is the 4th year running I have posted this piece of rhyme. I'm a big fan of the war poets but this one by Harvey speaks of the returning soldiers, the heroes sad homecoming instead of the bleak horror of Owen or the black humour of Sassoon.

Harvey also wrote one of my mother's favourites called *Ducks*. And so today I think of her too...

Bro A says:

Lovely image and (familiar)words, Twiglet. I was mailed by the Legion this year with a poppy to write on and send to the Field of Remembrance at the Menin Gate- which was nice to do.

No, I missed that Dhamaka : (

I like that idea Bro A. We have a Legion agent here in my work place, I'll ask her about that next year. Bro J sent me a song called *The green fields of France* which is a worth listening to if you don't already know it. it was easy enough to find on you tube.

Viv says:

Ah 'Green fields of France' in our campervan days we made friends with a family from Germany -
we often had music playing and this by the Fureys was part of the repertoire. Gerd and Regina told us they had a german version and when they got home they sent us a copy of the tape.

Twiglet says:

Thanks D

Thanks for your memory of the song Viv. My Bro J often visits here and will enjoy your comment too.
