I am married to Spiderbaby and live in Banbury, Oxfordshire after eight years living in the USA and Sweden. I am working and training as a clinical scientist for the NHS in Oxford.


There are now over ten years of photographs on my blog! It all started with a photograph I took on the 1st of May 2004... It's been a wonderful journey, thank you all who have shared it with me, and made this blogging community one I keep coming back to!

Oh yeah, that hurdle we're pretty much over - it'll be fruit vs chocolate :)

Only problem being you can't really have white icing on a choccy cake (or can you? just doesn't seem to work in my head is all) and then there's the shapes etc - blimey, eh?

Ann made the shapes out of icing, but there was the problem of sticking them to the cake. Raw egg white isn't suitable for pregnant women. I suggested prit-stick, because of it's flawless safety record.

I've seen chocolate cakes "iced" by coving them in chocolate curls/shavings, you can put real flower heads on also to decorate, or fancy fruit like strawberies or starfruit? I guess it depends on your colour scheme and what you like.

Or you could use smarties, or chocolate buttons (milk, dark, or covered in sprinkly things), or chocolate fingers or flakes, or if you want to be fancy you can make leaf imprints on melted chocolate... Or as Crickson suggested last night you could cover balloon animals in elted chocolate then burst the balloons to leave stylish chocolate effigies. At least I think that's what he said.
