Not that I ever recall having my initials on my bag when I was at school.

Ah nice! Lovely colour too - custom made or a happy coincidence?

OJ says:

Custom made Beth. Favourite colour with own initials would be too much of a coincidence. By the way I have been admiring pics of your silversmithing lately. I currently don't wear anything that can be imbibed, inhaled or simply broken by little magpie hands. But one day.

Ahem. The perils of posting from trains.

Fixed it!

Grand, my mum got a black satchel made for me a couple of years back which is a little similar, it's a lovely bag, I do rather like the initials though - our next door neighbours had satchels with their names on :)

And thank you, I managed to get a lot of silver work done over Christmas and it's been good to finally reveal it on my website now the surprises are all over. My entrepreneurial side says " Might I suggest a bangle madam" I'd struggle to eat a whole one myself :)

Very enterprising :) I do like really heavy silver bangles but only wear plastic/wood at the moment. Someone does like parading around in them too.

You've reminded me that I still covet a "Cofio" (Remember) bangle by Mari Thomas. I wear one of the rings. Three dimensional poetry - definitely worth looking at for inspiration if you're into jewellery with words (as I think you are). http://www.marithomas.co.uk/

Shall have a look at your bangles too.

her websites aren't working for me but found a pic of the bangles - looks really lovely

Viv says:

as Beth says the satchel is really similar to one I had made for her

I have a 70's leather bag in that colour but rather faded - must sort it's stitching out and start using it again
I rather like bags :)

I think her website is flash Viv.

I had the bag made by Mimi Berry linky. It's a Dai satchel.

Ah thanks for the link - I'm rather fond of those strata bracelets - a bit like clock springs. Yes! I have some wordy poetry ideas I'm keeping under wraps for now that I'm quite excited about. Watch this space.. or my space, or err moblog, as it were.

Ah, they are a bit. I don't recall seeing those ones IRL, though I may have.

It's the "Cofio" ones I like. My ring has the first line (Un funud fach cyn elo'r haul o'r wybren) of this poem by Waldo Williams. Appropriate enough as a meditation on the meaning of objects to us.

Yes, I'm becoming really interested by our sentimental response to jewelery - how these objects carry stories whether they're heirlooms or amulets or documents for occassions. I find that really fascinating.
