Ginny arrived back aboard on Sunday after spending a week visiting our grandchildren. While she was away Gunner developed a limp and I spent three days taking him for short walks and massaging his hip and leg to ease out any developing stiffness. It seemed to pay off, as by Friday he'd gained full mobility again. I've also started him on a daily dose of Glucosamine to hopefully prevent the onset of any future joint problems. Who knows?
We pulled away from Foxton yesterday (Tuesday) and made our way up the Foxton flight of locks and headed for Welford junction where we've moored near North Kilworth for a couple of days before heading for Crick.
We met some great people at Foxton having been in the area over the winter months as the maintenance stoppage programme and canal ice took hold. Lynne and Phil, who live canal-side, were very kind when Gunner urgently needed a vet and Lynne gave us every assistance in getting him to and from Market Harborough in her car. Also the village shop next to the Black Horse Pub run by Susan and Amanda aided by their staff Mel, Maria, Charlotte and Clare became a favourite for supplies and a friendly chat. Irene and John, who were often found sitting and enjoying the fresh air and a wintery sun on the towpath, were always up for a chat and were kind enough to receive our mail too. So all-in-all a great winter for us and more friends to be grateful for.
Our journey has resumed.........
