Pictures of my food. The stuff I eat and the things I make with recipes and tips. Plus maybe some restaurant reviews.
Please leave a comment and let me know how it went if you actually tried any of my recipes. thanks!
tell me about it. i'd love to go to the Polser van now and get one.
*huuuuuuuunger paaaaaaaaaangs*
I used to live in Denmark as a kid and I still desperately miss the hotdogs!
There's one place in the UK that you can buy ones that come vaguely close- some guy with a cart in Winchester. He does the other variety- y'know the baguette with a hole in it? They're yum aswell.
Hej,
i think its called a "French hotdog" i think. Maria?
I could jack my work in, buy a danish hotdog van, huge bag of polser etc and bring it across on the ferry.
The joy I could bring to the people of London.
All for the love of the "dog".
Doooooooo it. :-)
Have you seen the catfood they sell us after a long nights clubbing in London? They have the audacity to call that a dawg!
You would be the modern day saviour of the people ... we'd have to make a movie aswell, documenting the impending struggles. I worked in a hotdog van once- you'd be surprised at the mafiaso type dealings competitors will engage in. One guy tried to sabotage our van!
yes the ones with the hole and the pølse inside are called "frensh hotdogs" or "franske hotdogs" they are also very good, but nothing beats the classic "risted hotdog"
I have 3 british kids that have been brought up on hotdogs with Remoulade and Dried onion. We stock up each time we go to Demark or my eldest's godfather brings it with him when he visits.
Does anyone know where to by Remoulade in the UK or on the web that doesn't cost the earth?
We have run out and wont have any until Steen comes from Denmark at Easter.
Perhaps a bit late (considering the age of the last comment), but you can make the roasted onions and the remoulade yourself =) The onions are just onion bits turned in flour and fried crispy. The remoulade is chopped up pickled cucumbers/onions/cauliflower/carrots in mayo with salt and pepper. Well, in its most basic form anyhow. Add a dash of curry to spice it up a bit.
does any one know where to find the all pork hotdogs in the USA that are served in Denmark? that is only part I can not find.

I have searched the U.S over looking for Rode Polsers to order.. I cannot seem to find them.. I would also love the receipe on how to make them.. I am Half Danish and have eaten them In Copenhagn. I tell my friends about them but they just cannot know how good they are unless I make them or order them. The closest I have come to finding them is in Solvang, Ca. at a German (go figure) Grocery store just outside Solvang and they call them German Frankfurters. They taste close but not quite there.. Any help?? Thank you Jerry luvnjazz@earthlink.net

At 54 years old, with a Danish mum I've loved these all my life. My best times were stopping on the old bridge crossing from mainland heading towards Odense, where we begged mum and dad for at least two of these at the kioskand a further danish ice cream by the time we reach Odense. I wonder if anyone has the same memories?

I was thinking of my visit to Denmark and craving the hot dogs. They were delicious no matter where we got them. Street vendors, train station, fuel stations...we loved them! I did find a similar bread/bun in Northern Wisconsin but still searching for the dog.
