I saw Allen Toussaint with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band at the Bridgewater Hall Manchester we were on the front row it was magic!
This was my second time seeing them, from very nearly the same seats in the same venue (we were one table up, but that put me too far stage right to get good shots.)
Last night was their 50th Anniversary- Ben Jaffe's mom was in the audience.
We were on the front row - but they don't allow photography in our theatres
It's rare that a venue won't allow pictures. Some don't. Lincoln Center doesn't, for example. But this was a smallish venue called City Winery (you can see what it's likehere).
Small clubs almost always have no problem with photos, thank goodness. It looks like I'll be shooting a band called Platform One on Sunday night (sort of a steampunk/dark electro thing) and then another jazz show on Friday next.
Nikon's getting a workout. :)
I saw them in Baton Rouge Louisianna and it was one of those times you never forget. Great to see them still struttin.
