In the past this is why it was so easy to convince my employees that European conferences were a cheap alternative. It's more expensive to go to Manchester.

Not owning a car, public transport and my bike is the only way I travel these days. I try and order most train tickets online as far in advance as possible which usually saves me a lot. In fairness though, this is a months travelcard into London, so with the tube. Still, bit of a shock to the wallet.
