Why, those are bird-scarers! Really. The owner used to hang those old CD's in rows over recently planted crops to scare away the birds. I think it may work, especially when it's sunny and the CD's are shining and reflecting the sunlight into the ground and the surrounding areas. But I don't think that would ever have occurred to me...
