I am married to Spiderbaby and live in Banbury, Oxfordshire after eight years living in the USA and Sweden. I am working and training as a clinical scientist for the NHS in Oxford.

There are now over ten years of photographs on my blog! It all started with a photograph I took on the 1st of May 2004... It's been a wonderful journey, thank you all who have shared it with me, and made this blogging community one I keep coming back to!

Interesting things I read recently:

"Only one in five people born [in the UK] since 1975 believes in God".
Source: Prof David Voas, University of Essex

"For every dollar invested in the Human Genome project, $141 was returned to the US economy". Francis Collins, NIH
Source: New Scientist 27 July 2013.

I am Pavlovs_dog on PSN and would be happy to link up with Playstation-owning mobloggers : )

Too Much Information: The first album I ever bought was the Fraggle Rock soundtrack. Pretty cool, eh? I was only 16 : )

Wow, cool photo!

Oh, can I recommend MS Words' "find and replace" feature. just replace et al. with et al. and bingo, the whole document's changed (also, aren't you using a reference manager like EndNote? Can't you just change the output settings?). Anyway, I found find and replace also good for italicising "in vivo/vitro" and any other latin names.

Tried it and it won't do text alterations like that. B*stard piece of micro$oft sh*t.

My laptop will cost £300+ pounds to fix!!! Sob!!!

Sorry to be a bother is it just the mac version of word that won't italic replace
try find and replace
theres a more button for options,
then format - font will let you make the new et al italics.

yeah, that's what I did. I don't know what is and isn't included in the Mac version of Word though. I don't think I would have survived without find/replace.

Eep... 300 squid sounds bad. What happened to it? Are you going to sort it out straight away, or will you use one of the millions of other macs you own?

It has find/replace, but I don't know how to find/reformat. It's done now anyway.

All my Macs are special. None could replace my lovely powerbook. The G4 titanium is still the best laptop Apple have produced, much nicer looking than the aluminium ones that came after it, and I reckon it's a bit thinner too.

i thought there would be lots of entries to catch up since my last visit to your blog. initially i thought the reduced rate of blogging was because you were still hard at work on your thesis, now i see that is finished (hurrah) and technology has let you down.

Alas yes, I am still waiting for a replacement phone. I am assured (again) that it'll be here by the end of the week, but I've heard that before. I'll try to get some older pics together this week and I'll get my old kodak powered up now I've got more time to myself.
