It's so WEIRD to have straight hair. It's very much like looking at someone
else in the mirror.

Yes, but you get used to the power of choosing which girl you want to be. You know I'll be straight slinky girl today, no hang on I'll be girl curly today.

onceupon says:

And, there is totally power in choosing who you want to be, so I'm down with that. Just, I've never been this girl before so it takes a bit of getting used to. *smile*

Once you get used to it - it is fun. Confuses the hell out of people when I do it. I always get double takes from people.

onceupon says:

Half the people in my department have touched it, in some strange ritualistic making sure it's real gesture. *grin*

It's just.... It's all over the place! How do people control this stuff?!

kostika says:

Hair ties :o)

btw..looks good, if very differant.

onceupon says:

Hrm. I don't actually OWN a hairdryer. Might have to invest in one of those again.... This time I used Control Freak by TiGi while I was straightening it.

Thanks kostika! Hair ties.... *grin* It looks so slicked back and WEIRD when I pull it back!

This is going to take some getting used to. Makes me feel all reserved and quiet, like a librarian. I have the strangest urge to shush people.

19th Sep 2005, 16:39

kostika says:

I just tuck my hair behind my ears.

19th Sep 2005, 16:46

onceupon says:

That's what I'm doing so far, but every time there's a breeze.... Whammo, hair right in the face. *laugh* This stuff is wackier than curly hair, any day. And it's so very long that it keeps getting caught in stuff, or behind me when I lean back in my chair.

19th Sep 2005, 16:48

kostika says:

Aww the joys of long hair. Heck mine isn't even long currently and it does that.

19th Sep 2005, 16:51

onceupon says:

At least I managed to keep it out of my sun roof this morning when I was driving! That would have ended badly, for sure.

Dhamaka NLI says:

lookin' good..

My hair's favourite trick is to stay outside the car when I get in and shut the door - I ask you how????

19th Sep 2005, 16:58

kostika says:

My habit is the do the pin yourself to the chair trick. You know the one, you lean back and all is well til you decide to lean forward again but can't because you can't move your head forward cause your hair is pinned between the chair and your back.

19th Sep 2005, 17:01

onceupon says:

Thanks Dhamaka! I've done that more than a time or two myself. And it's always when someone is watching.

kostika -- That's not USUALLY a problem when my hair is curly, but that's all I seem to be doing today! Ouch! *grin* Oh, the woes of long hair.

19th Sep 2005, 17:03

Dhamaka NLI says:

yep.. or (although it has been a while so it took a while to surface), it's a romantic moment, you bend towards each other to kiss and.... find you can't move forwards or backwards because your hair has been pinned between the chair and your back/ under his arm/ between the chair and the wall/between your arm and the table....

19th Sep 2005, 17:04

kostika says:

That extra inch or two must be jsut enough for it to get to the right spot for that to happen.

19th Sep 2005, 17:05

onceupon says:

My past boyfriends have been all about the long hair, but the hair has a life of its own.... It's just awkward to manuever it in certain delicate situations. Gah! Or you're all snuggly just sitting together and you go to move and realize you can't because your partner is firmly planted on your hair but you don't want to say anything because it's a special moment and you wind up with the crick of doom in your neck.... The horror!

kostika -- The curl draws it up in the back a good 4 or 5 inches, according to a coworker who was MEASURING my hair this morning. She's an utter freak. I think I must sit a little bit forward in my chair, usually, and those extra inches are just enough to catch it.

19th Sep 2005, 17:09

Dhamaka says:

Yep, been there.. *grins wryly*

Euphro says:

Are you in the path of Rita? Or is that way south of you?

19th Sep 2005, 17:13

kostika says:

hehe...been there done that. Been on both sides of that even. (hubby has hair as long as yours)

19th Sep 2005, 17:14

onceupon says:

Oooh, kostika, the long-haired men are excellent.

Euphro -- thanks for asking! At this point it's supposed to pass quite a bit south of here though we'll still get some nasty weather. BUT, as Katrina proved, these things can change course without anyone really knowing.... Hurricane path prediction is not a very accurate science. Last year Orlando got hammered by four different storms and we're all still sort of shell shocked from that. I can't believe we're at R already. This doesn't bode well, since the season lasts until early November.

mine just has silly waves in it at the back and sides which stick out : (

Gael -- waves are so nice though! I love wavy hair because it always has so much body.

(One of my coworkers so prefers the curls that she isn't talking to me today, handling our communications instead via email. *gigglefit*)

Euphro says:

I hope that it passes you by. I've been watching and this has been a pretty amazing/shocking season already :)

Your hair looks fine Gael

You will let us know f the hurricane changes Onceupon..

What about this for a story line.. ........the moment had come, he looked my way. I knew all I had to do was look into his eyes and he'd ask me to marry him... but by the time we had unstuck my hair from the beery table the moment had gone, never to come again

19th Sep 2005, 17:25

onceupon says:

Dhamaka -- that SO needs to be a scene in a movie! Only none of the starlets have long hair right now so I can't cast it in my mind.

Everyone in the southeastern US is shocked by the season this year. We thought last year was bad! There's definitely a lot of nervous energy, as some people prepare for the storms and some people try to laugh in the face of the dread that hits us all when another storm is named. Orlando, especially, has been complacent, and even this year people don't believe we could be hit, because we're about as landlocked as you can get in Florida and before last year it had been 60 years since ANY hurricane had hit us. I'll let y'all know Rita changes course -- believe me, I'd be moblogging it.

onceupon says:

I like the curls better myself, I think. It's been a few days now and I just can't get used to looking like this. Apparently, my friends are telling me, it makes me look a lot of things like "more grown up" and "sophisticated" and I don't really so much think of myself as either of those things. Nice every now and then though.
