It's been over three years since our Indian adventure - and our last post we are ashamed to say!

Rose is now five and there has been an addition to our number: Rose's little brother William who is already two.

We upgraded our boat 'Windrush' last year and now have a much roomier Beneteau 323 which we keep on Lake Windermere in the English Lake District, easily one of the most beautiful locations in the world, even if the weather is fickle.

After a couple of years of working too hard, we have decided to take an extended holiday and use up some of the ridiculous amount of accrued holiday.
The plan is to spend the next nine weeks sailing all the way around the United Kingdom, and we will share our experience through this blog. We hope you enjoy following our journey.

On the road out of Chirala

We headed north west out of Chirala and straight into the town's waste disposal zone ie the sides of the road immediately out of town. Not the first impression of India we had hoped for but very typical. Thankfully the trash soon passed by and we cycled through tobacco fields with racks drying brown leaves at their edges. Next came cotton fields with women shaking off the white balls. We stopped and took a snap of one of the cotton pickers and took a sample for Rose to play with as we continued our ride. Cotton gave way to chilies and then rice. The scarlet chilies drying in the sun was striking when set against the green fields. The small roads we had chosen took us through many villages and we drew much attention. Within a few seconds of stopping we would be surrounded by dozens of fascinated locals staring in bewilderment at our white faces, bicycles and ROSE!

Am following you avidly! memories of you, Kate, attracting so much attention in Italy when we were en route to Greece (you were 2 or 3) and very pretty and blonde. Guess one has to go further these days to be a novelty as a blondie!
