* the apartments behind this big advert are luxurious art nouveau beauties, dripping with classic viennese style and panache. they're also incredibly expensive. to get an impression of the kind of person who might own one of these apartments, consider the slogan used by palais principe to advertise them: 'You don't have to live in these apartments to love Vienna. Owning them will do.' ouch. now that's just pure self-indulgence!
** I'll probably get my legs blown off for taking a picture in here. don't tell anyone...

Oh, I loved the museumkwartier. You see that big grey building with Mumok written on it? Walk up those stairs you can see, keep going past the cafe tables on the left until you get onto the street. I stayed in a hotel on that street for a week the second time I was in Vienna. Had such a good time. Barely felt like work.

very nice area to be staying. I opted for budget accommodation in a friendly 'penzion' so I'd have a bit more cash to spend on coffee and cakes...
