I love this version... I also prefer his version of *Halleluja* to any other. I am a cover lover : - ) ">

Thanks CM x
Thank you AnnO. The lilac grows against and over the back fence at the house in S. There are also bluebells and forget me nots and a shocking pink camellia which has a very long flowering season. It is the bit we let grow a bit wild to attract the butterflies. Our fairy glade!!
Edit: Have corrected as much of the crappy spelling as I could. I have a triple vision hangover of such magnitude that I might actually lie down and CRY!
Thank you W : - )
Us cover lovers must emerge from the closet stating our musical preferences loudly and proudly and without shame or fear of ridicule... x
Meh, you're damnable heretics, the both of you!
It's Uncle Lennie or nothing.
Pshaw, young people today... bah.. harumph...
(exit stage left in a fedora.)
I never liked the original. buckley's version blew my socks off when I first heard it. then the rufus wainwright version - oh my goodness, so awesome. that one blew the rest of my clothes off.
Admit, there was a time when Mr Cohen didn't do it for me at all, so I shall hope that you too come to see the error of your ways. ;)
well for now he still sounds to me like a grumpy old man singing along to a karaoke machine. but hey what would I know, I don't even like bob dylan... (*ducks down and runs for cover!)
h: I re listened to LC, still didn't do it for me but at least you admit he didn't always do it for you.. : - )
b: I like the Jeff Buckley version because it's guitar and not piano, nothing against piano but it works for me. Also, I am actually a grumpy old man who sings karaoke!
I also don't like Bob Dylan but I like it that your clothes have all blown off...
*Also ducks down ; - )
They say if you hang around long enough everything will be repeated! I remember the Hallelujah debate at least once before on moblog. I too like the Jeff Buckley version and for the same reason as you G, the very clean guitar sound. Also don't think much of Dylan as an act since seeing him live, can't fault the song writing though...
Lovely photo, love lilac : - ) Also like the song *Lilac Wine* which is a very old song and like Hallelujah has been covered plenty. Lots of Hallelujah info here which I found at the time of the last debate : - )

Thanks for entering the ring : - )
The only thing I can't stand about the Buckley version of Lilac wine is his pronunciation of the word lilac... Males it sound like ly-lack. I think I would have a terrible time in N America : - (
Yeah, but I don't mind that. It's good to know what people think : - )
