Beaming you sights and sounds from the streets of Manhattan. Or wherever else I happen to be.

So far it's just a toy, but I'm sure I'll be putting to work for real eventually. :)
I'll try not to make anyone too jealous....
That tiny little thing is a $35 ARM-based PC, now running Debian Squeeze Linux off of an 8G micro SD card I had lying around. I've got it drawing power from a powered USB hub, connected to the local wireless network, sending full HD 1080p video output to a handy HDMI monitor, and running Samba services to connect to the local windows network. Still need to get audio working, but that seems to be the last remaining hiccup. I'm gonna try to get it working with a small wireless keyboard/pointer combo at some point, and, I dunno, fold it a case out of cardboard so I can stop worrying about dropping crap on the circuitry.
I'd like to get one eventually. I'd like to pick up a few programming skills and this seems ideal. I think I'll wait until the rush is over and there are some "Programming RaspberryPi for Dummies" books out there.
*Is also hoping Beth will make some lovely boxes to put R-Pis in : )
(P) what's this?
