Whiteoaks Wood

Photo:
1. Ornamental splendour still apparent.
2. The wild wood. Fox gloves and rhododendrons abound.
3. The overgrown and unidentified commemorative obelisk. It was, supposedly, a tradition to build them in memory of a favoured horse

This small oak wood was once connected by an avenue to the main Dunham Massey estate but was later separated from it by the building of the Bridgewater Canal.

The wood is overgrown and un-managed leaving a once proud obelisk abandoned to the elements.

Pity it isn't being managed at all but looks wonderful nevertheless
