Box Hill Olympic event

I took this photo of Box Hill last Friday while we were waiting for the Torch to pass through our nearest town which is Dorking. This weekend the whole area is being given over to the road cycling events. Some people are upset and some people are excited. Me, I not particularly interested in the cycling but I've enjoyed being in an area that's part of it. There's going to be a lot of disruption but so? We've had plenty of warning and it's only one weekend out of life for the area.

Agreed. I'm staying at my brother's in Weybridge whilst I volunteer and the race cuts through here too. Although I'm not able to see it, I imagine the cycling will be really good. As you say, one weekend in the year shouldn't be a massive inconvenience - road works often go on for much longer!

I've never been anti the games. Being the Olympic Torch's biggest fan naturally I've had the best time following the torch's progress on the BBC live feed and getting to see it in real life again. But so many people are so bloody negative about the games! Whatever is the matter with people? Good luck with your volunteer work, I'm sure you'll have the time of your life!!
