The hearfelt sign is because a nursery play area adjoins the park & whilst they'd probably be all of a Springwatch about foxes had they only foxes, they're less chuffed about the rats, which do tend to come hard on the vulpine heels when there are regular leftovers to mop up

Rats are more of a health hazard around small kids & a lot harder to keep out than Mr Tod.

Is that oxo sign going begging?

hildegard says:

It's part of a wooden Oxo packing case & along with some friends, turned out to form no small portion of the interior walls in a recently-restored ruin.

Afraid this pic was taken at start of a restoration project & the packing cases are long gone.

If it's any consolation, they really weren't in great shape - they're legible mainly thanks to the miracle of PShop. ;)

We feed the foxes in the grounds where my office is. They often leave their calling cards and I can understand anyone not wanting them or rats around a nursery. I have an associate in pest control who tells me that even our bird feeders will attract the rats as so much seed is spilled and this is a bumper year for rodents...

We had our reward last Spring though when the mama fox brought the family to visit : - )

They were rather splendid but the new owners understandably felt they'd rather have actual walls than packing cases jammed between beams. :)
