I came across this gorgeous little wild flower some days ago, but it took me some time to identify it.

Linaria amethystea subsp. amethystea. They don't seem to be very common. I hope I find them there again next year.

Pretty. Like the way it practically leaps out of the frame in 2.

Lovely, and quite unusual.

what a great flower. I had to go look it up, of course. It's from Portugal or Spain...are you from Portugal or Spain. Is it spring where you are?

Thanks, everyone. I was lucky to find it.

Swamprose - I am from Portugal. I'm not sure if it's usual for this particular plant to flower in January, but our winters basically look like this. It rains a lot, but there are enough sunny and relatively warm days so that everything gets covered in green and a lot of herbaceous plants start flowering. Like if it were spring already. You wouldn't know it's winter unless you look up to the trees (or feel the cold - but by "cold" I mean around 10-15ºC, usually).

Sometimes I envy all the snow you people up north get and complain that winter here just doesn't look like it. Other times I'm just happy with all the green. :)
