The Grouse Grind

This is the climb to the summit of Grouse Mountain. It's been described
as "Mother Nature's Stairmaster", which seeing as the trail is almost
entirely man-made, is probably not a great description. The trail
itself is only 2.9 km long, although it's essentially a long flight of
stairs and there's a gain of 1 km in elevation, making it bloody tiring.
It took me just under an hour, which isn't too bad.

Cheers :o) And thanks for the highlight!

Dhamaka> people do that here too. I think the record for this trail is just under 30 minutes. There are quite a few over 60s who jog up it every day. I think once a year will suffice for me :)

Elph> yeah. I've been pretty busy, so I've not read enough to get into it yet. I read 'such a long journey' a few months ago though, and thought it was pretty good.

A good part of the main trail up Ben Nevis is just a flight of stairs, really ...

Would never be able to go that way. But the view from the top is phenomenal. We visited a few years ago and took the tram to the top.

Gael> I haven't done Ben Nevis in a long time, so don't remember it too well. There's something not quite right about such an obvious man-made trail through such a beautiful area.

Autumncat> Cool photos. Yeah, the view from the top is fantastic. The trail itself doesn't have very good views at all, but it's well worth it when you get to the top. I took the tram down though!
